March 25

Amanda Johnson, the gal behind Here’s looking at me kid, doesn’t only run a lovely blog full of vintage finds and fun outings with her friends (that oftentimes makes you feel like you just stepped out of a time machine), she also has a beautiful home. Gladly, she shares tips from time to time, for example how to make the bathroom look just a little bit more glamorous or how to decorate those corners that really don’t have any use at all.

She manages to create a very unique vintage look, that – although mostly every piece of furniture or decoration is from former decades –  doesn’t look like the home of a person in her seventies. Instead it is light, breezy and full of fresh and warm colors (also very very cozy – don’t you just want to lie down on this couch with a cup of coffee and a good book?).

All in all, it seems to be the perfect apartment for those grey and rainy autumn days to come, when all you want to do is stay indoors to have fun with your friends or just enjoy a quiet evening at home.

Is it weird, that I find that this commercial for glasses makes you feel good? It’s fun and colorful (it screams summer!) and the finest evidence, that commercials don’t have to be corny or boring (like most are). I wouldn’t mind getting my hands on the clothes they are wearing either (this blue blouse? or the striped shirt with the jeans jacket?).

Oh, and by the way, if you want to win a pair of these glasses, you can go here. Good Luck! (And if you want to visit the spex club shop, go here).

after II

Recently, I started trying to learn how to sew. I have never even touched a sewing machine until sometime last year, but always admired those girls that wore fabolous clothes and made them all by themselves.

Since my mom -sadly-  isn’t that crafty and I don’t really have the time or the money to attend a sewing course, I thought to myself  ‘Why don’t I try and teach myself how to do it?’.

Well, this has resulted in lots of frustration with my sewing machine (using that thing is harder than it looks!), but also some projects that turned out quite good. One of them is this pillow slip. It is made out of my great aunts old curtains (I have about 100 yards left, so expect to see them again now and then) and it took me about an hour to finish it. (more…)
