What are you all up to this weekend? For me today brings a trip to Ikea (yay) and I’m finally going to watch Submarine with a friend. Has anybody seen it yet? I’ve only heard good things about the movie so I definitely can’t wait. Tomorrow I’m going to a friend’s birthday party who I haven’t seen in ages so that should be fun, too. Have a good one!
Here are some fun links from around the web I found this week:
Sometimes (especially after long and stressful weeks) all I need to be happy is a cup of tea and a good book. On my reading list right now are The Daydreamer by Ian McEwan, Eating Animals by Jonathan Safran Foer and Franny and Zooey by J.D. Salinger. What are you reading at the moment?
I don’t know if it’s actually summer where you come from, but over here, it’s been mostly raining the past few weeks. It’s a little sad that we don’t get to spend all our time outside, swimming and having fun (with all those things you associate with a good summer), but it’s also nice to cuddle up inside, eating lots (!) of pie. So if your summer also feels more like autumn without the red leaves, this mixtape is perfect for you. If you’re lying by the pool in the sun right now, I hope you enjoy it as well. You can go listen to it here.
1) Beirut – Santa Fe
2) Justin Vernon – Hazelton
3) The Lumineers – Stubborn Love
4) Garda – Upper/Lower Water Course
5) James Vincent McMorrow – Breaking Hearts
6) Electric Guest – American Daydream
7) The Generationalists – When they fight, they fight
8) Bon Iver – Who is it
PS: Since I love creating mixtapes so much I decided to stop making only monthly ones but instead just create one whenever I feel like it. I hope you enjoy music just as much as I do!
Since starting university in October also means moving out of my parents house into my first own flat (exciting – and terrifying), I’m constantly on the hunt for decor inspiration, even more than usual. Of course, my budget is veery limited so I won’t have the funds to make it as pretty as I would like to, but with a little challenge decorating is even more fun, right? One home I would instantly move in is Julie Pointer’s apartment, it’s so cozy and perfect, a wonderful refuge. I especially love all the little knick-knacks everywhere.
Last month I told you (multiple times) how in love with 8tracks I am at the moment. That’s partly due to the fact that I love listening to new music, partly because I started a little day job (nothing exciting – just to earn some money) where I can listen to the music I want to all day. Some of my favourite mixes as of late are these:
