just a minute in november

Rain, Martin Place, Sydney, 1937 / by Sam Hood

Okay, November is nearly over (and Christmas time begins!), but here’s what I’ve been up to lately:

reading: I just finished reading Chronicler of the Wind and it was really hard at times (it’s about a stray in Mozambique who’se been shot and tells his life story), but also one of the best books I have read in a while. I’m now reading The Theatrical Tapes of Leonard Thynn, which is really funny, so a nice change.

watching: The past weeks have been really rainy and cold (and I started knitting a new pair of socks), so I’ve seen quite a few good movies. I went to the cinema to watch Skyfall and Oh Boy, which I can both really recommend. I also can’t wait for Ruby Sparks and Anna Karenina, which should both start in December over here.

eating: Moving out has really not improved my eating habits. I mainly eat noodle soup or pasta (the typical student cliché), because I am too lazy to cook properly. Any good and easy recipe recommendations for me?

spending: All my money on knitted sweaters and old books. I cannot help it, I’m addicted! Next week I’ll start buying Christmas presents (I already know what to give to everyone, this has never happened before).

waiting: You can imagine, for Christmas time to arrive. The greatest time of the year in my opinion.

What are you up to at the moment?

  1. I really enjoyed Skyfall but am also really looking forward to seeing Ruby Sparks, as I loved Little Miss Sunshine!

I have to recommend Jamie Olivers 30 minute meals, they’re so, so easy and with only a few ingrediants so the meals arent expensive either! Otherwise you better get yourself some stretchy pants my friend … at least thats what I had to to when I was at uni living on pasta …

  2. LOVED Sky Fall! can’t wait for Christmas either.
Hmm I don’t cook a lot but recently I tried this: courgette with tomato sauce and mozarella in the oven! hmm yummy :) add some lettuce on top!

  3. I’d say make sure you eat plenty of fruit and veggies. Sometimes I buy heaps of fruit and juice, and then feel like I really have to eat all of it, otherwise it will go bad… I hate wasting food, so I end up eating it.
Sometimes I have a ‘fruit day’ as well, just eating fruit, drinking juice. Maybe porridge in the morning..
Just buy fruit/veggies you like, and you’ll enjoy eating it. :)
